Dr. Ernest Williamson III, who was admitted to New England College's MFA program in poetry in 2004, has published creative work in over 650 journals. He has published poetry in over 200 journals including Roanoke Review, Poetry, Life and Times, Review Americana, Penwood Review, Pinyon Review, Bayou Review, Eunoia Review, Copperfield Review, JMWW, Commonline Journal, Steel Toe Review, & Wilderness House Literary. Recent poems are in Open: Journal of Arts & Letters, Bare Hill Review, Littoral Magazine (UK), Ink Pantry (UK), I-70 Review, Fragmented Voices (UK), & Rowayat.

His artwork has appeared in hundreds of journals including New England Review (2015), Columbia: A Journal of Literature & Art (2016), Penn Review, (2018), Columbia Review (2011), Tulane Review, Fourteen Hills, Emerson Review, Kestrel, & Journal (OSU). Dr. Williamson has sold prints of his work to buyers in Germany, Portugal, and the United States.

Some of his recent works have been published in Wanbli Ho Journal, Pithead Chapel, Belfast Review, 805 Lit +Art Journal, Santa Barbara Literary Journal, Abstract Mag TV, Harbor Review, & Vita Poetica. Williamson's work was also accepted for publication by Fugue (University of Idaho) but it was not published due to resolution issues.

For 20+ years, Dr. Williamson has published creative work in reputable journals. His art has graced the covers of numerous journals including Columbia Review (Columbia University), New Delta Review, Madison Review (UW); New Plains Review, Pennsylvania English; Rio Grande Review (UTEP); Conium Review, and many others. His music has appeared in Roanoke Review, and his photography is in Eleventh Hour Literary. Dr. Williamson is the cover artist for Dr. Eric Shaffer's new book “Second Nature."

Born in Illinois and raised in Tennessee, Ernest is the son of retired elementary school principal, Yolanda Gibson, M.A., & BMI Music Award-winning musician, Ernest Williamson Jr. Identified early as a strong student, he was moved into an experimental public gifted education program for academically/intellectually talented youth called Creative Learning in a Unique Environment (CLUE). The oldest of three, Ernest began writing poetry at the age of 13. His brother is a Berklee alum and Grammy-nominated musician & his sister is an educator.

Williamson, a graduate of CBHS, is also a self-taught pianist and classical composer. His composition, Struggle for Peace, was published in Georgia College's The Peacock's Feet in 2014. Williamson has composed over 170 classical piano works. Williamson earned an MA in English from the Univ. of Memphis and a PhD in Higher Education Leadership from Seton Hall University.

Dr. Williamson's poetry has been nominated three times for the Best of the Net Anthology. In 2012, famed theatre director and Moliere award winner, Irina Brook, praised Dr. Williamson's creative work and called him "an amazing Renaissance man". Williamson was admitted to Drew University’s Doctor of Letters program in literary studies in 2012 but did not enroll.

Ernest has worked in various roles in higher education for over 15 years. For 5 years, he was an Assistant Professor of English & Department Coordinator at Allen University. For 4.3 years he was Assistant Director of Education Projects (Title III) at Tennessee State University. Dr. Williamson has taught Leadership courses at TSU & Allen University. Ernest has also taught at Fairleigh Dickinson University, Nyack College, TSU, ECC, and NJCU.

He has published education articles in Academic Exchange Extra, Higher Education Digest, Epitome: IJMR, & Higher Education Plus (March, 2026). He has served as an editorial board member for Criterion: An Int'l. Journal in English. In 2023 Dr. Williamson read for IJRDO- Journal of Educational Research. In 2024 he was a reader for The Word's Faire & Tonic Literary Journal.

His research can be found in Urban Review, Public Purpose, Delta Kappa Gamma Bulletin, & in peer-reviewed books. For 2 years, Dr. Ernest Williamson III has served as a Test Prep Instructor with (MSCS).
Williamson is also a reviewer for Int. Journal of Education, Culture and Society, and he is an ad-hoc reviewer for International Journal of Instruction (IJI). Dr. Williamson has 11+ years of full-time work exp. in education, and he has 18+ years of total work exp. in education.

For years, Dr. Williamson has taught at PWIs, HSIs, and HBCUs. Dr. Williamson has served as a Developmental Mathematics Tutor and EOP English Instructor for Seton Hall University and he has served as a Writing Consultant for Nyack College and Essex County College. Ernest, a 2023 Marquis Who's Who listee and dissertation editor, is also a member of Pi Lambda Theta, Kappa Delta Pi, Golden Key, Sigma Alpha Lambda, GHIQS, & IHIQS.
